Latest Galaxy Note 8 specs leak hints at 6.4-inch display

That Samsung has achieved the targeted initial success with its flagship devices Galaxy S8 and S8+ is an open secret now. But how far has this success helped it heal the wound of the Note 7 disaster can only be answered when its upcoming Note 8 device also generates S8 like reception. With the S8 fever still running high, the compass of leaks has not fully turned towards Note 8. But now and then we do get to hear about it. A similar opportunity has arrived with a new leak about Galaxy Note 8 revealing some of its specifications.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has spilled a few beans about the upcoming Samsung Note device, cites 9to5Google. As per the analyst, Note 8 will sport dual rear cameras, one with 12 MP resolution wide-angle CIS supporting dual photodiodes and the other with a 13 MP resolution featuring telephoto CIS, plus dual 6P lenses and dual OIS. Not only this, he claims that the cameras will give better performance than even Apple iPhone 7 Plus and could be at par with upcoming iPhone 8 rear cameras. On top of that, the Note 8 cameras will be capable of 3x optical zoom.

As per the analyst, Galaxy Note 8’s screen will be 6.4-inch with QHD+ OLED display powered by either Samsung’s own Exynos 8895 processor or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, depending on the market where the phone is released. Samsung will continue with the rear fingerprint scanner placement, as seen on S8, even with Note 8, Kuo claims.

Based on past leaks, we know that Note 8 will pack in 6GB RAM and run Android 7.1.2 Nougat with TouchWiz. The battery on board will be 3,600 mAh battery with fast charging. Other reported features include IP 68 rating, wireless charging and of course a S-Pen Stylus.

If indeed Galaxy Note 8 brings on board all the above mentioned features, it goes without saying that Samsung stands in good stead to undo the Note 7 fiasco and deliver a successful successor.

  1. there is also a rumor that the Note is going to be Samsungs first device with Dual cameras!! if all this rumors turn out to be true and with all it’s might and the stylus, Note8 might turn out to be the Best smartphone of 2017 without a second thought and will also revive the trust of the people that they lost during Note7 fiasco!!

    1. Yeah! I hope they implement dual cameras and I hope they implement it right! They tried it on S8 while testing it but thought there’s no proper use to that technology!

    2. These dual cameras are becoming the standard! Again, a relic of how phones are replacing cameras in so many fields. They are becoming more capable. Note 8 is rumored to have 3x optical zoom too. It has been 2x in all phones now

    3. The Note 8 has all the bearings to be the best phone of 2017 although I have a feeling that the iPhone might stand competition as its the iPhone’s 10th anniversary and the rumours state a lot of changes and most of them are really marvelous such as the onscreen scanner and such and its also rumoured to have a full glass front and back. The Dual camera is not a rumour and it has also been confirmed 😀

    4. Samsung doesn’t really need Dual cameras as the S8 is proof that with just 1 camera they can provide one of the best cameras .Right now they seem to be implementing dual cameras just for the sake of it as most flagships come with them and also so that they have more features to differentiate from the S8 series phones

    5. The camera seems to be the highlight of the phone as it supports 12-megapixel wide angle and 13-megapixel telephoto shots and is said to beat the iPhones camera hands down and match the OLED iPhone which is expected to release this year

    6. And the 3x optical zoom is absolute dope

    7. Ah yeah that too 😀

    8. Cheers. 😀

  2. I’ve always love the Note series. I was completely devastated to find out that Note 7 got harmful problems. I really hope the Note 8 is going to be a decent phone because judging by all these rumors, it sound very promising! Totally looking forward to it.

    1. IKR! Note 7 was so beautiful overall. I absolutely adored the phone.

  4. if the note7 have not a issue about battery. the note 7 is the best phone of 2016. the new galaxy s8 is beast but if this note 8 really true this the best phone of 2017 i think.

  7. 6.4 inches on pure screen and no bezel! Gosh that’s going to be a sight to behold really. I wonder how well they will have to optimize the battery to run such a big screen, in a small form factor(since no bezels). Going to be a feat. Also, bezelless phones will change how we hold phones. Since there is a material to hold the phone above or below the display in one hand without causing touches.

    1. It might not change the holding as when most people hold the phone with one hand they either support it with two fingers at the back or rest the phone on their finger and and use their thumbs to reach far off keys 😀 and about the battery I guess they’ll simply make the phone slightly fatter just so that it can accomodate that stylus and also that battery and moreover they need more space to work with as it also comes with a dual camera remember 😀

    2. One hand use is beside the point. It will be awkward when you are playing a YouTube video for example and wish to hold the phone in one hand. You can’t pinch grip the phone like we are currently. The front should essentially be untouched.
And expecting a 2k screen, nearly a crore pixels being pushed around on a massive screen will be very power draining. Fattening won’t do. They will have to do something new and I think they will. Like they did in s8 by creating better, long lasting batteries with reducing degradation. Fingers crossed Samsung

    3. Well most videos don’t support the current aspect ratio and it ends up having an awkward black portion on both sides but still holding it won’t be awkward as it’ll be usual like how most people hold the phone when they take a selfie (the two handed support thing).About the battery I’m not sure myself either but one thing is for sure that Samsung won’t let the Note 8 be a repetition of last year and they also have made their tests more intensive .The concepts I saw seem pretty slim and a more interesting bit is that its expected to be unveiled at IFA 17 <3

    4. My point exactly. It’ll change how we use and hold the phone. In the end, we twisted and turned and arrived at the same initial point I made. 🙂
Yes, no matter what, the phone won’t blast anymore. 😀

    5. Lol you’re right XD No matter how the phone is its worth the effort to change positions and I’m sure people would get used to it 🙂

  8. That display is such a beaut <3 I'm guessing the phone will be a bit fatter that the S8 to accomodate the battery and also the stylus seeing that its so big .Hard to see a Not series phone without the Home button as thats what pops into my head when I hear the word "Note" but still this is indeed a beautiful. They've also replaced the finger print scanner below the camera 😀
