Insignia Flex gets Release Date and Price at Best Buy

US retail major, Best Buy is planning to release a 9.7 inch Android 4.0 based tablet, under its inhouse-brand name Insignia. The Insignia Flex Tablet is expected to hit retail shelves on November 11th, well in time to cash in on the holiday season shopping boom. While Best Buy has not announced any official pricing as yet, reports suggest that the Insignia Flex would be priced between $239 to $259.

Limited Specs are available at this point, and they are as follows:

  • 9.7 inch display
  • 1 GHz dual-core processor
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 10 hour battery life

Little else is known about the Insignia Flex at this point. It is still not clear, whether this will be a WiFi only, or include other connectivity options as LTE, nor is there any info about its storage capacity.

With extremely stiff competition in the already crowded US tablet market, and HTC recently announcing that it was pulling out, the Insignia Flex is entering the market at a time when Google’s Nexus 7 32GB is poised for an imminent release along with the iPad Mini. Amazon‘s Kindle Fire HD also has its fair share of followers. A lot of folks may prefer to pick up the Nexus 7 32 GB, which is likely to have the a similar price point as the Insignia Flex, and it would be interesting to see how Best Buy’s Insignia Flex holds up its end.
