Huawei fans are not new to the company’s huge collection of pocket-friendly smartphones that are usually part of the Y series.
As we had reported earlier this week, a new model is being lined up, the Huawei Y7 Prime 2019, and while we had only gotten our hands on the images of the phone alongside its model number thanks to a listing on the FCC, specs and more images are now available. Apparently, the Huawei Enjoy 9 that has launched in China is the global Huawei Y7 Prime 2019, something that doesn’t surprise us because, Huawei!
Huawei Y7 Prime 2019 specs
- 6.26-inch 19:9 HD+ (1520 x 720) LCD display
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor
- 3GB or 4GB RAM
- 32GB or 64GB expandable storage
- Dual 13MP + 2MP main camera
- 8MP front camera
- 4000mAh battery
- Android 8.1 Oreo
- Extras: Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio jack, microUSB port, 5V/2A 10W charging, etc.
According to details that had leaked via the FCC and TENAA, the Huawei Enjoy 9 matches the design and specs of the Huawei DUB-AL20, DUB-TL00, and DUB-AL00 device that is assumed to be the Huawei Y7 Prime 2019. The phone steps up from where its predecessor left off, coming in with a bigger 6.26-inch panel with a taller 19:9 aspect ratio and a teardrop-style notch, but it still keeps the same HD+ resolution.
Under the hood, the Y7 Prime 2019 is powered by an 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor clocked at 1.8GHz and allied to either 3/32GB or 4/64GB memory option. This is an improvement from the combo on the outgoing model that includes a Snapdragon 430 chipset. The Y7 Prime 2019’s storage is expandable via a microSD card of up to 512GB.
Moving onto photography, the Huawei Y7 Prime 2019 has a dual 13MP + 2MP camera on the back supported by an 8MP shooter on the front. Huawei has stepped up the battery department with a massive 4000mAh unit which should last more than a day thanks to the battery-sipping HD resolution. However, the fact that its an entry-level device means it misses out on fast charging technology, but you get 5V/2A 10W charging technology that delivers the maximum amount of any standard charger. This should slightly lessen the time it takes to fill this massive battery.
In terms of software, EMUI 8.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo will run the show out of the box. The phone will be sold in color variants of Black, Red, and probably Aurora Blue and Aurora Violet.
Huawei Y7 Prime 2019 price and availability
As we already noted, Huawei’s Y series is a target for the price sensitive market, which means we can only expect a modest price tag of about $250 or thereabout. In China, the Enjoy 9 goes for CNY 999, which is about $150.
There isn’t much known about the launch date of the Huawei Y7 Prime 2019, but looking at the amount of information doing the rounds on the web, we won’t be surprised if the phone is unveiled this December, with availability across the globe to kick off in early 2019.
