May 01, 2019: Google hasn’t even detailed release notes for May 2019 security update, but Huawei is ready with an update that adds this security patch level to the P20 and P20 Pro in China.
The update arrives as EMUI 9.0.0.187 and requires the previous B184 in order to receive the OTA download notification. On top of the security patch, the update should also improve general system performance as well as fix any annoying bugs in readiness for the arrival of EMUI 9.1 stable.
April 03, 2019: Huawei P20 and P20 Pro are receiving April 2019 security patches as EMUI 9.0.0.184. The update is available in China for models EML-AL00 and EML-TL00 of the P20 and CLT-AL00 and CLT-TL00 of the P20 Pro. This update comes only a couple of days after Google released the update for the Pixels, which is quite impressive from Huawei.
That’s a pretty solid response to missing out on March 2019 security patches, but it may take some time to arrive on the global variants of the handset. The Pro variant will join the party as from tomorrow.

The pair of P20 handsets will also be upgraded to Android Q, probably before the end of 2019 or in early 2020.
