Huawei is getting ready for an event on March 27 and it’s looking increasingly possible that we’ll see the first tri-lens smartphone at this event. However, that will not be all as the company is reportedly lining up another surprise in the shape of Huawei P20 Lite.
That Huawei is looking to fit in as many as three cameras at the back of the Huawei P20 itself is a surprise, even when we know that the company likes to put in as many sensors as it can, as showcased in the one of their recent launch of the Honor 9 Lite, that comes with four cameras — two each at the back and the front. But anyway, we think we would see a similar setup of two cameras each on both sides of the device with the Huawei P20 Lite.
Without further ado, let’s find out more about the upcoming Huawei P20 Lite rumors specs, features, price and release date.
Huawei P20 Lite design and display
Looking at the phones Huawei has released from late 2017 to date, you can be sure that the Huawei P20 Lite will follow the same design language. And indeed this is the case thanks to a series of leaked images of the phone in the wild, cases as well as renders, all of which are included in this article.
Chinese OEMs have often been accused of lacking in terms of innovative smartphone designs and the latest leaks seem to add more weight to this argument. Apparently, Huawei is going after the Apple iPhone X design, where the P20 Lite will rock a FullView display design, but with a notch at the top.
As if this isn’t enough, the Huawei P20 Lite will also come with a vertical dual-lens camera on the back, which appears in the same position as the iPhone X. However, the LED flash appears at the bottom of the lenses rather than between them. Unlike the Apple flagship, though, the P20 Lite will come with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, but it’s also believed Face Unlock will be included out of the box.
HTC Breeze: Budget HTC phone
It’s true the leaked Huawei P20 Lite is an iPhone X mockup, but then again, considering how gorgeous the Apple phone is and how it feels in one’s hand, there’s definitely nothing wrong in Huawei bringing this feeling to an affordable Android phone.
While we can see that the P20 Lite will rock a FullView display design, there’s word that it may feature a 19:9 aspect ratio instead of the known 18:9. The screen, which occupies nearly the entire front except for a tiny bezel on the bottom, is said to be of 5.8 inches in size. It’ll also rock a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels.
Furthermore, the FCC also gives us a hint of what to expect when the Huawei P20 Lite comes to life as you can see in the images below.
Huawei P20 Lite specs and features
- iPhone X-like notch on the front
- Kirin 659 processor
- 3/4GB RAM with 32/64GB storage
- Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0
- 3.5mm Audio Jack
As the entry-level variant in the P20 series, the Huawei P20 Lite is expected to ship with low-end specs. But in Huawei’s school of thought, such a device would bring the likes of Kirin 659, 3/4GB RAM, and 32/64GB storage.
The P20 Lite, which carries codename Anne, is also rumored to come with a 2900mAh battery unit with support for fast charging technology. Of course, charging will happen via a USB-C port and based on the series of leaked images, the phone will also come with a 3.5mm audio jack. Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8 will run the show out of the box.
Motorola Moto G6: specs and release date
We have more solid proof that the Huawei P20 Lite is indeed on the way codenamed Anne. The phone appeared in the FCC database with model number ANE-LX1 and mainboard name HL2ANNEM.
Huawei P20 Lite "Anne" ANE-LX1 now listed in FCC database. FCC docs confirm codename, listing mainboard name as "HL2ANNEM". 2900mAh battery (18W charger) and Android 8.0 in tow. Has dual SIM, 1 of the slots also doubles as microSD. Oh, 2.4g 802.11n WiFi only – as usual :/ pic.twitter.com/d2eBoKTuOY

The leaked images do confirm that the Huawei P20 Lite will rock a vertical dual-lens camera on the back. However, we still don’t know the exact specifications of this camera, but the inscription below it points to a hybrid zoom feature. At the moment, we still don’t know if this camera setup will be Leica-branded.
The front camera will be housed in the notch and right in there will also be the facial recognition system. On either side of the notch are tabs with information such as network, time and battery percentage.
Huawei P20 Lite price and release date
- To cost about €350
- March 27 launch expected
It had been widely expected that the Huawei P20 series will be unveiled at the MWC 2018 later this month, but that won’t be the case because Huawei has confirmed that it will be holding a separate event on March 27 in Paris, France. This is where and when the P20 Lite will be unveiled, with availability expected to follow shortly after.
As for the pricing, we still have no idea, but looking at previous valuations of P Lite handsets, the Huawei P20 Lite should come in priced at about €350.
Huawei Nova 3e
Huawei introduced the Nova branding back in 2016 after the failed deal with Google for the OG Pixels and this year, the series will get the third major installments.
In typical Huawei fashion, the P20 Lite (codename: Anne) will be sold in certain markets as the Nova 3e.

Now, according to Evan Blass, the company has plans to sell the P20 Lite in some markets as the Huawei Nova 3e. This won’t be the first time Huawei is making such a move. The Huawei Mate 10 Lite, for instance, has different names in different markets, but those in Malaysia know it as the Nova 2i. In India, it’s known as Honor 9i while those in China call it Maimang 6. There are markets where the Mate 10 Lite is also sold as the Huawei G10.
It’s likely that the Nova 3e will also be sold in Malaysia, but as per Blass’ tweet, this won’t be the only market the P20 Lite will be sold with the Nova branding.
