Last year, Huawei unveiled the Honor 7X in the U.S. and like its predecessor, the 7X is equally impressive in terms of design, specs, features and even the price. However, if for some reason you felt that it would have been a better phone if it got more raw power, well, your prayer has been answered.
In the Huawei Mate SE, you have what is basically a slightly more powerful Honor 7X. The design language is the same as its counterpart, but of course, tweaks are on the inside.

As you can see, the only notable change is the name of the phone, but the design and specs remain just about the same as the Honor 7X. The 7X was unveiled with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, but an upgrade to Android Oreo is in the works. It’s disappointing that the Huawei Mate SE is still getting Android Nougat instead of Oreo. At least, Huawei would have made this small change under the hood to make the phone more attractive to the masses, especially now that it has already released several phones with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box as well as updated several others to the new OS.

The Huawei Mate SE was confirmed in mid-February but started selling on March 6. In terms of pricing, the Mate SE will set you back just $229.99 and it’s available in Grey and Gold on Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H Photo.
