March 16, 2019: The Mate 20 Lite is receiving a new update in China as EMUI 188.8.131.52, which installs the latest security patch for February 2019. The update is targeting variants with model number SNE-AL00 and is available over the air.
February 26, 2019: A new EMUI 9.0 beta update is available for the Mate 20 Lite in China with model number SNE-AL00. The Pie-based update has software version 184.108.40.206 and tags along the latest Android security patch for February 2019, improved user experience with Huawei Share, and optimized recording stability and clarity in certain scenarios.
The update is airborne, meaning some units will get the OTA download ahead of others.

Huawei Mate 20 Lite was the first in the Mate 20 series to go official, which also meant that it came with older software compared to the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro. Huawei Mate 20 Lite, unlike the others in the Mate 20 series, comes preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo. Given its class, the Mate 20 Lite is expected to get two Android OS upgrades, beginning with Android 9 Pie.
The beta update to Pie is already available as EMUI 9.0, with the stable rollout expected after a few weeks of testing, probably somewhere in mid-Q1 2019.
