March 13, 2019: The latest update for Honor 9N variant in China is rolling out as EMUI 8.0.0.136. The update installs a new February 2019 security patch on models LLD-AL20 and LLD-AL30. To get the OTA, your device must be installed with at least version 8.0.0.133.
February 26, 2019: Honor is rolling out a new update to the Honor 9i in China, otherwise known as Honor 9N in India. The update carries software version EMUI 8.0.0.135, installing a new security patch for January 2019. Although not the latest in town, it’s still worth downloading, especially since you are likely to come across plenty of bug fixes and performance optimizations.

Huawei’s naming scheme can be confusing. For instance, last year’s Huawei Mate 10 Lite is known as Huawei Honor 9i in India. In China, however, there’s a new Honor 9i device that sells in India as the Honor 9N. Pretty confusing huh!
In this post, we have software update news relating to the 2018 Honor 9i or rather the Honor 9N as those in India know it. The phone has Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and looking at what Huawei has been doing with software updates, we expect at least two major OS upgrades for the device besides regular minor updates.

Honor 9N Android 9 Pie update

The Honor 9N is one of the many Huawei midrangers that are expected to receive Android 9 Pie and true to this, those using the Chinese variant of the phone, which is known as Honor 9i, can now join the EMUI 9.0 beta program that brings Pie to the device.
As for the stable rollout, including in India, we expect it to begin in late Q2 2019. Even better is that those in India can watch out for a beta update in March 2019, but you have to be ready for the OTA as instructed in the screengrab below.
