Huawei Freebuds 2 Pro: All you need to know

Huawei’s Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro flagship are expected to launch during a press event scheduled for October 16. But according to WinFuture, the Chinese tech giant is also gearing up to introduce a new set of Apple AirPods clones during the same date.

Of course, Huawei is targeting the Apple’s earpods here, much like their phones, but how much they succeed in that is something only time will tell. Samsung, for one, didn’t particularly impress a lot with their Gear IconX earbuds — which is still one of the best Galaxy Note 9 accessories despite not being up to mark.

The main features: what to expect

Called the Huawei Freebuds 2 Pro, the wireless earbuds will allegedly be able to connect to smartphones via Bluetooth 5 and allow bitrates of up to 560Kbps. Certainly good news for audiophiles.

The report also reveals that the headphones will come with noise reduction and leverage the power of AI to distinguish between their owner’s voice and everyone else’s. Moreover, the Freebuds 2 Pro is said to offer quick access to Google Assistant, which the Huawei Mate 20 pair will also supposedly support. Each bud apparently weighs 4.1g and is 43 x 18.6 mm.

The cherry on top

While all this sounds nice and peachy, there’s one particular feat that will set the Freebuds 2 Pro apart from the competition. The earbuds can be placed in a pillbox case and put on the back of the upcoming Mate 20 or Mate 20 Pro to recharge.

The leaked materials also suggest that users will be able to place the case on a charging pad, too. But the first option surely sounds a lot more intriguing, as Huawei’s upcoming flagship will basically double as a charger. The buds have 3 hours of battery life, with an additional 20 hours coming from the case.

The buds can be charged via USB-C, which takes two hours, while wireless charging takes three.

Pricing

The report claims the Huawei Freebuds 2 Pro will cost around $175 (or Rs 12,573 approx.).

But we’ll know more on October 16, when Huawei finally launches the Freebuds 2 Pro along with the Mate 20 duo.
