Huawei AppGallery 9.0 introduces age-wise content recommendation

Huawei opened up its AppGallery app to markets outside China back in April 2018 and today, the company has a new update that bumps the version number to 9.0, same as the latest EMUI 9.0 that is based on Android 9.0.

While there are plenty of optimizations that the update brings to Huawei AppGallery, the standout addition is the age-wise content recommendations that are now showing up in version 9.0. After the update, the recommendations of apps and games that you get in the app store will be categorized based on ages three, seven, twelve, sixteen, and eighteen.

Another interesting addition to AppGallery 9.0 is an editorial section that provides recommendations for the best global apps, exclusive games, education, a children’s area and forum space for free speech.

Huawei says the reason for this change is to accommodate minors that are quickly gaining more access to smartphones, hence necessitating the need for a grading system for the content that’s available in the app store.
