HTC Working On A Waterproof Camera?

HTC seems to be gearing up its product range beyond the smartphones, in order to improve its dwindling sales. We heard yesterday about a HTC smartwatch in the making, and now the rumors has it that HTC is also developing a waterproof camera, a domain largely ruled by GoPro, a company known for making high-definition cameras used for extreme action video photography.

The waterproof camera along with a selfie phone will unveiled at the October 8 event in New York City. HTC has sent out invites for the event with the tagline “Double Exposure”, which clearly suggests it’s not an event for a tablet or a phone but one focused on cameras.

Reportedly the rugged waterproof camera will be tube shaped structure sporting an ultra-wide angle lens along with a 16 mega pixel sensor for HD video recording capability. The camera would include Bluetooth and Wifi connectivity. HTC might release its own iOS and Android application to support the camera for syncing pics and videos while you’re on the go.

We’ve seen HTC’s efforts at making wonderful cameras for smartphones with the introduction of ultra-pixel technology and dual-cameras which takes advantage of depth of field. And now with a whole new segment, we’re intrigued to see what the company has in store for us at the Double Exposure event next month.
