Looks like the Android One program is going to offer us some really incredible choice of stock Android smartphones in near future. To tell you the truth, for us, the excitement of Xiaomi Mi A1 — 2017’s first Android One smartphone that Xiaomi released in India few days ago — hasn’t wore down yet, and yet we’re already hearing about an HTC Android One phone. That’s apart from the Moto X4 Android One edition that’s also hit the rumor mill recently.

As per LlabTooFer, who has a proven track record with upcoming HTC hardware and software, the HTC U11 Life Android One phone is in the works. FYI, the HTC U11 Life is not released yet, but should be a toned down version of HTC’s current flagship, the U11. While, the Android One edition should be the U11 Life under the Android One program, which means it will feature stock UI and would be receiving the software updates directly from Google.

Though, it’s being said that the device would retain some of the cool features HTC has on/can offer. Like? Well, you got EdgeSense, Zoe, HTC’s camera app. Something what Xiaomi also installed on its Mi A1 despite that being the Android One phone — which is a good thing.

HTC U11 Life A1 Release Date

The HTC U11 Life Android One phone would be launched in near future, sometime in October-November 2017.

Even if it launches with Android 7.1.1 or Android 7.1.2 pre-installed, it would be in line to receive the Oreo update pretty soon after its release. So much soon that it’s possible that flagships like Galaxy S8 and HTC U11 would be yet to see a day in Oreo.

Yep, that’s the power of Android One program. And all this is made possible by Google handling the software updates directly for the Android One phones, with minimum help needed from the OEMs to make their proprietary apps compatible with the latest update. Hence, way faster updates.

Well, a true render of the U11 Life A1 is not available yet, but believe us, it won’t take long before a leak or two gets us that.

However, here’s the next buy thing: the render of the HTC U11 Life itself, the device whose software will be replaced with one under the Android One program. Here, below is the HTC U11 Life (thanks to Evan Blass), with slightly longer than usual bezel at bottom, which is indeed odd-looking.

Why buy HTC U11 Life 11

Well, there are some obvious reasons here.

First of all, the U11 Life A1 would get you the premium build quality that you expect only from HTC. And that’s one of the many great features of Android One program — the brain-child of Google’s CEO, Sunder Pichai.

Second faster and guaranteed software updates. If you are worried whether your next device in a mid-range segment would receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update or not, well, then just buy an Android One phone, whether that be Moto X4 A1, or Mi A1, or the HTC U11 Life A1. Not only Oreo, the Android One phones can be taken granted to receive the Android P update too, Android 9.0.

Third, stock UI. The UI changes completely when OEM’s put on their custom skin on the device, which most of the OEMs do, except OnePlus and Motorola. So, the interface that you see on devices like Nexus and Pixel, is no longer there for you on Samsung Galaxy and LG phones, or an HTC, Xiaomi, Lenovo, or any other OEM. We personally find stock UI far more pleasant that any other custom skin by our favorite OEMs out there, while it’s kind-of proven that stock UI means stable and faster device performance too.

These are the top three reasons why you should be buying the HTC U11 Life A1 Android One smartphone.
