HTC says Android Nougat for HTC 10 set for release today

The wait is finally over for HTC 10 fans, as the company has revealed on its twitter handle that they are starting Nougat update rollout for the device today. The rollout was made official by HTC USA’s twitter account. The build that is released as Android Nougat update should be software version 2.28.401.6, which is already out as a custom ROM.

The carrier variants of the HTC 10, those at Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon in US, should be seeing the Nougat update next, but whether that happened in December, or January, remains to be seen. We expect the T-Mobile and AT&T HTC 10 sets to receive the Android 7.0 update in January 2017, while Sprint and Verizon by December-end.

As there wasn’t any beta test for Nougat, the release date remained tentative. It was around this time of the year, last year, that Marshmallow was released. So it’s good to see that HTC has been keeping to the update schedule.

For those of you who find HTC’s official update and stock UI boring, you could try the Nougat custom ROM that came out just before the update. Last year’s flagship, the HTC One M9, is also expecting an update to Nougat, at the by December-end.

The OTA update for HTC should include the new Night mode and other new functionality. Check out a few screenshots of the HTC 10 running Nougat to know more.
