How to solve the apps refreshing problem on the Samsung Galaxy S8

With the specs and features of a proper flagship device that stand tall even a year later, Samsung Galaxy S8 is far from being an outdated piece of technology. The Android 8.0 Oreo update that the devices received last week has revived it for the new year, but for every brand new feature and service upgrade from Samsung, there is a bug or issue to haunt users on a daily basis. One such feature seems to be the apps installed on the device refreshing irregularly, and here’s how to fix it.

Step 1: Keep the apps up to date

Ever since the Oreo update for the Galaxy devices, there have been numerous reports of third-party apps faltering. This could either be due to the new and untested nature of the software update or due to the fact that the apps are not updated.

  1. Head over to the Google Play Store app on your Galaxy S8.
  2. Swipe from the right to view the menu bar and tap on My apps & games
  3. Here you will be able to all any and all the apps that haven’t been updated to the latest version.
  4. Press the Update button right next to the app (or Update All) and reboot the device to see if the app refreshing issue has been resolved.

Step 2: Toggle Bluetooth off

Surprisingly enough, the Bluetooth 5.0 module on the Galaxy S8 seems to be causing an interruption with network-intensive apps, which is causing them to refresh irregularly. This can be easily fixed by turning the Bluetooth toggle off when not in use. Simply slide down on the screen to reveal the Quick Settings menu and tap on the Bluetooth icon to disable it.

  1. This did not work for my S7 Edge

  2. Turning off BT is not a fix. This issue is most likely related to Fossil/Skagen/Misfit smartwatches. Need a real fix for this.
