OnePlus has been actively releasing Android 10 beta builds for its latest flagship phones for the past two years, the OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T.

Continuing with that, the company today released the 3rd developer preview build of Android 10 for the abovementioned four devices.

Should I install OnePlus Android 10 DP3?

OnePlus was quick to highlight the update isn’t suitable as a daily driver yet and you may run into rough corners every now and then. So, unless you are a developer or know exactly what you are doing, it’s not a good idea to install Android 10 DP3 on your OnePlus 6/7 device.

Known issues

For OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, OnePlus lists these issues:

  • Known Issues
  • Application compatibility problems
  • You may face stability issues.
  • User data will be cleared for DP1 & DP2 upgrading

For OnePlus 6 and 6T, OnePlus lists these issues:

  • While in Ambient display screen, FOD does not appear, the power button needs to be pressed.
  • You may face stability issues.
  • Application compatibility problems

Going back to Android 9 Pie

Well, that’s very easy. All thanks to OnePlus for providing the rollback builds that take you straight to Android Pie from Android 10 DP3 if you so wish to.

How to install

  1. Download the Android 10 DP3 build from above.
  2. Transfer the Android 10 update file to your OnePlus device if you downloaded it on PC. Don’t put the file inside any folder or subfolder.
  3. Open the Settings app on your OnePlus 7 Pro.
  4. Scroll down and tap on System.
  5. Tap on System updates,
  6. Tap on the gear icon in the top right,
  7. Tap on local upgrade.
  8. Tap on the update file you transferred above. (If you saved it inside any folder, it will not show up for selection. See step 2 above.)
  9. Tap on Install Now.
  10. You will see the System update is installing dialogue. Let the system install the update.
  11. Tap on the REBOOT button to restart the device and finish the update.

Earlier today, OnePlus updated its OnePlus 7 Pro handset with OxygenOS 9.5.10 and OnePlus 7 device with OxygenOS 9.5.7.
