How to install Android 10 update on Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10e [One UI 2 update]

Here is our step by step guide to the install Android 10 OTA update manually on your S10, S10+, and S10e:

Step 1. Make sure your device currently has required Android 9 Pie update version ASII installed on your S10, S10+, and S10e. If not, you got to download and install that. Here’s how to install the required ASII build:

Once you have ASII update installed, jump to the next step to install Android 10.

Step 2. Download the Android 10 OTA Beta 1 (ZSJ8) file from the Downloads section above. If you are already on beta 1, then download the beta 2 (ZSJF) file and proceed. [Beta 2 can be installed only on Android 10 beta 1 (ZSJ8), not on Android Pie (ASII).]

Step 3. Rename the downloaded Android 10 update file to update.zip so that the system recognizes the file when you install it.

Step 4. Install SDK Platform Tools.

  • Download platform-tools for Windows from here.
  • Extract the content of the Platform Tools’ zip file to a separate folder on your Windows PC. Let’s call this folder the ADB folder.

Step 5. Transfer the update.zip file to the ADB folder.

Step 6. Open a command window into the ADB folder. Here’s how:

  • Open the ADB folder on your PC where you extracted the content of the Platform tools file.
  • Type cmd in the address bar of the ADB folder and then hit the enter key. A command window will open up, and its location will be your ADB folder where you extracted the SDK tools and copied the update.zip file.

Step 7. Reboot your Galaxy S10 in recovery mode. Here’s how to:

  1. Power off your device. Wait for 6-7 seconds after the screen goes off.
  2. Press and hold the three buttons Volume up + Bixby + Power together for about 20 seconds or until you see the recovery mode.

Here’s what the recovery mode looks like:

Samsung recovery mode

Step 8. With the phone in recovery mode, move the selection to update via ADB option using volume keys and select it using the power button.

Step 9. Connect your Galaxy S10 to your PC now. It’s recommended you use the original USB cable that came with the phone.

Step 10. In the command window, run the command below to verify ADB is working alright:

adb devices

You should get a serial number when doing so. That means the ADB is working.

Step 11. Install the Android 10 update file. For this, run the command below:

adb sideload update.zip

The update process will begin. Do not disconnect your phone from the PC now. Don’t power off the PC either. When done, it will restart automatically but it will take some time doing so. You will soon have Android 10 running once it is done with optimizing apps.

Done!
