Here’s why Galaxy S7 Oreo rollout could begin in Europe in the next few days

We know that Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will start receiving Android Oreo in Canada somewhere in May, but our guess was that Europe, Asia and other markets that use unlocked handsets would get the update a little earlier.

Well, it turns out our hunch might just be true, at least if what Redditor MehdiMa0507 has discovered is anything to go by. Apparently, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Oreo firmware are already somewhere in the cloud waiting for the OTA switch to be turned on by Samsung.

The Redditor found that the Galaxy S7 will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo through firmware version G930FXXU2ERD4 while the S7 Edge will receive firmware version G935FXXU2ERD4. What makes the Redditor so confident that this is the upcoming Oreo build is the fact that Samsung has also included the CSC code, implying that the update could roll out even today or tomorrow.

From the build number ERD4, E stands for Oreo, R stands for the year 2018, D stands for April and 4 means this is the fourth build, MehdiMa0507 notes. If this is indeed true, which we hope it is, Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge users should start getting Oreo this weekend or maybe next week.

While it’s a good thing that Android Oreo is coming to the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, all is not well in the Oreo camp.
