Greet Google to book a cab

Google Assistant ride feature

Unlike Siri or Alexa, booking a ride is something that Google Assistant has never been able to do. However, things are set to change shortly. Acknowledging the fact that it was about darn time, it is good to see that GA is catching up. Soon, you will be able to talk Google Assistant into getting you a cab.

This new feature is set to roll out this Thursday and will be a superb addition to almost all Android and Google Home devices.

From restaurants to airports or to a specific location, a ‘Hey Google’ would be enough to hail a ride.

The news doesn’t end here. Apart from booking a pick and drop, the Google Assistant will also show the prices and average waiting time of the restaurant you are taking the cab to. It supports a range of taxi service providers like Ola, Uber, Lyft, Grab, GO-JEK among others.

Seeing that Alexa and Siri have been able to hail you a taxi since 2016, this isn’t a market-disrupting development by any means, but it is useful for plain ole’ Android users.

This book-a-ride feature will be available first in English and will eventually support more languages in the coming months.
