Budget mobile devices have come a long way, especially the ones under the Android One lineup. Even Android One devices of the present generation offer far better hardware and software experience than their predecessors. Ahead of the grand MWC 2018 event, Google is making us mobile fans salivate with its latest announcement.
In an official blog post, Google’s Senior VP of Platforms & Ecosystems, Hiroshi Lockheimer made a grand announcement of what we can expect. Stating that Android already has a massive global presence of more than 2 billion active users, Android Oreo (Go edition) will help it reach out even further.
“Starting next week, you’ll see the first set of Android Oreo (Go edition) phones, and soon after they’ll be available for you to purchase.”
The pocket-sized version of the Android 8.0 Oreo OS has been here since December. Google has the entire suite of Go edition apps of the Google Play Store, Gmail, YouTube and others ready to roll already.
We do have some knowledge of the Android Go phones that’ll be launched next week for now. However, considering that the hardware required for these devices is the bare minimum (1GB RAM or less), you can expect the price tag on the latest range of budget smartphones from Google to be as low as $50.
