Galaxy S8 update with fix for red tint issue now rolling out in US, build G950USQU1AQDE

Last month, several users started to notice that their Galaxy S8 screen was showing more red color than usual. Samsung stated that this was a software issue and that it would release a fix for it soon.

Korea got the update first, and now, T-Mobile users in U.S. are receiving a similar update to fix the red tint issue. To be honest, it isn’t really a fix, rather the update gives the user finer control over the RGB color balance of the display.

After the update, the user will see a new slider that lets you adjust the cool or warm settings. This option is available Advanced Settings for the Display. There’s also another new slider that allows you to adjust the color balance for the edge of the display.

The U.S. build is G950USQU1AQDE and it is currently being seeded as an OTA update. For now, only T-Mobile users are seeing the update on their Galaxy S8, but it should be available for others soon. The update weighs around 140 MB in size and as per the release notes, provides improved color optimization and convenient color adjustment. Do install it and let us know if it fixes the red tint, in case your device had the problem.

  1. finally it launched in US as well, yesterday I read a article that it’s rolling out in India too, finally to stop all the questioning on the red tint issue they made it global, this will definitely build the trust of the customers on the brand!!

    1. Especially from the few people who keep blaming Samsung for it although they keep saying its not a fault.

    2. yeah, that’s right!!

  2. They are sticking to their version that this red tint issue isn’t an issue at all but rather just how amoled displays are by nature and update makes their stance official. I don’t know for sure how bad or widespread red tint displays are with the S8 users since all we see are pictures or claims. Hopefully, its not as bad as is sounds and the complaints die out aftert his update is done rolling out to all users.
