Galaxy S8 Oreo beta update to arrive as firmware G950USQU1ZQJB with Samsung Experience 9.0

samsung s8 oreo update

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are going to receive the Android 8.0 Oreo beta very soon. Although a release date isn’t confirmed yet, it looks like we have the firmware version for the update.

A Redditor apparently has the first Oreo beta for the Galaxy S8 and has revealed most new features and improvements present in the beta. The beta update has the firmware version G950USQU1ZQJB and doesn’t really feature many changes in the UI. However, in terms of Oreo features, they are all present, along with Samsung extras.

The Samsung Experience UI version is 9.0 and things are definitely better in terms of smoothness. The user has only had it for about half a day, so he can’t really notice any difference in battery life. Nougat features such as Split screen are still there.

The touch latency is much better, the Notification Dots feature is present but renamed to App Badge icons, Adaptive Icons is there, Settings has been redesigned, Search is faster, Google Assistant can be invoked with ‘OK Google’ while device is charging, and much more. The App Pairs feature from Note 8 is also present in the update, the Camera app is slightly redesigned, and you will notice some small changes here and there.

There aren’t any big UI changes though, but yes, overall the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and S8 + will very likely make users happy. It is snappier, faster, has all the Oreo features, and there’s better RAM management as well.

Now, we only have to wait till Samsung officially launches this beta update for the users who have signed up for the Galaxy Beta Program. You can expect it in the next few days.
