Galaxy S8 DxOmark rating is lower than Pixel

The DxOMark results for Galaxy S8 is out now placing this flagship phone from Samsung one point below Google’s Pixel smartphone. DxOmark rates a smartphone based on its camera quality. While Galaxy S8 managed to get a score of 88, it failed to beat the top Photo score of 89 garnered by Pixel smartphone.

Interestingly, this year’s flagship phone from Samsung was awarded the same score as received by last year’s flagship devices Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, although the Galaxy S8 comes out better in a lot many areas as compared to Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 shines in the video recording segment where it comes out at the top with a sub-score of 88 points. This puts the device into joint top place for moving image quality alongside Google’s Pixel, Galaxy S7 Edge, and the Sony Xperia X, says DxOMark adding that ‘Galaxy S8’s main strengths for video are its excellent stabilization system (with improved results in low light compared to its predecessor), and its excellent color rendering, with no color shading in bright-light videos’.

The overall one point where Galaxy S8 lost to Pixel is in still photography which DxOMark attributes to its low noise. But this particular feature also makes Galaxy S8 camera more appealing to photographers looking to record portraits with smooth skin tones.

DxOMark remarks that Galaxy S8 has been one of the best devices tested for ‘autofocus, with smooth, fast ,and accurate performance in all lighting conditions’.
