Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus Android Pie update rolling out in Australia and France

Android 9 Pie update for Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus was first released last month, with the rollout starting off in Europe and slowly spreading to Asian countries.

Today, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus Pie update has arrived in Australia, both for the unlocked and carrier variants of the duo. Users of the pair on Vodafone Australia and Optus Australia have started receiving the update and even though Telstra has yet to make its mark, it should join the party pretty soon.

We knew this update was coming after Vodafone Australia updated the official software page to reflect that the rollout would begin soon. Optus had also made its plans clear a week earlier, so it’s great to see the carriers sticking to their promises.

Both carrier and unlocked variants of the S8 and S8 Plus are on the receiving end of a similar firmware version with build number DSBA. The update not only brings about the new One UI, but it also installs February 2019 security patches to the pair.

Also receiving the update to Pie on the S8 and S8 Plus are those in France. As pointed out earlier, Europe got the nod ahead of the rest several weeks ago, but it seems France is late to the party. On the brighter side, the new One UI update has the latest security patch for March 2019, which should justify the delay.

With this in mind, the units of the S8 duo in France are receiving a different firmware with build number DSBF, but like the rest in this post, the update is heavy, which requires a stable Wi-Fi connection to successfully download without any major interruptions.
