Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Nougat update rolling out in China, build G9350ZCU2BQC1

Chinese owners of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will finally be able to get a taste of Android 7.0 Nougat as Samsung has now started seeding out the OTA today. The Nougat update had been in beta phase for a long time now with the update originally expected to hit the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge around mid February. The update, which is sized at 1487 MB and going by the software version G9350ZCU2BQC1 for the S7 Edge and G9300ZCU2BQC1 for the Galaxy S7 also brings along the Samsung Experience 8.0 user interface.

Hopping on to the Nougat train will bring you all of the fancy goodies that Google offers now including Split Screen window (which Samsung brought out long back with the note series), quick reply from the notifications shade, a more organized notifications pull down, a redesigned settings menu, revamped doze feature to deliver better battery performance and the Vulkan API for improved graphics performance are some of the new features to name a few.

In addition to Google specific updates, Samsung adds a whole lot of other functionality and its own skin which now takes the moniker of Samsung Experience. Samsung apps are also seeing some changes in design and functionality.

With the launch of the Galaxy S8 getting closer, the prices of the current generation flagship are being dropped to very attractive ranges. Samsung will probably try to sell a good many devices this way till they take off the wrappings on the Galaxy S8. Nevertheless, the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge are still great smartphones and if you’r in the market for a new device, don’t let the opportunity go.
