Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5 update rolling out with October security patch

A new software update is available for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5. The update is a minor one and addresses security concerns. If you’ve got any of these devices, we recommend you install the update as soon as it’s available.

Samsung is seeding these updates over-the-air, and it could take a while till all the devices get it. The build number of the update for the Galaxy S6 Edge+ is G928CXXS3CQJ3, while the Galaxy Note 5 update build is N920CXXS3CQJ1.

These updates will install the latest October Android security patch on the devices. Most likely, the update also patches the notorious Blueborne Bluetooth exploit as well. Recently, Verizon also seeded a similar update for their variants of the S6 Edge+ and Note 5.

Before installing the updates, make sure there is more than 50 percent charge on your device. We also suggest that you connect your device to a stable WiFi network to download the updates.

Samsung has just started to seed the first Android 8.0 Oreo beta for the Galaxy S8 and S8 + in the US, UK, and South Korea.
