July update for Unlocked Galaxy Note 9 rolling out!

Galaxy Note 9 software update

There are not many Samsung devices, especially in the US, that have received the July update till now. The Verizon’s S10 5G receive the July update yesterday, while the same has been available for the global variant of Galaxy S10 sets for some time. Samsung’s still busy rolling out June updates BTW, as Sprint users will tell you.

But you can now add the unlocked Galaxy Note 9 sets — model no. SM-N960U1 — into the mix now. Samsung has begun updating the unlocked models of the Note 9 — that purchased directly from Samsung or unlocked from carrier — to build CSF9, one that carries the July 2019 security patch. The full software version of the update is N960U1UES2CSF9.

Sadly, the Night Mode is still not part of the update. Though, we would recommend you to install the July update right away if it’s available. To check for update, open the Settings app, scroll down and tap ‘Software update’, and then ‘Download and install.’

Unlocked Note 9 July update

Samsung is all set to unleash the Note 9 successor in the form of Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Plus on August 7. The Note 10 could raise the bar in protection from water with its (rumored) IP69 rated protection, which means the device can be immersed even deeply, and take up against a water jet.

Galaxy Note 9 is eligible for the Samsung’s Android Q update and should receive the Q beta sometime in February 2020. The Q update for Note 9 will also feature Samsung’s One UI 2.0 custom skin.
