The October security patch 2018 is being rolled out to an increasing number of Samsung Galaxy devices. This week it’s the Galaxy J4 (South Africa model), Galaxy J5 Prime (Columbia model) and Galaxy J2 Core (India model) that are getting updated with the latest security fixes.
The new firmware version for the Galaxy J4 (SM-J400F) is J400FXXU2ARJ3, while the Galaxy J5 Prime (SM-G570M) gets G570MUBU3CRI3 and the Galaxy J2 Core(SM-J260G) the J260GDDU2ARJ1 version.

These update will arrive in the form of an OTA (over-the-air), but if you’re not seeing yours yet, don’t despair. It might take a few more days to arrive on your respective device. In case you’re really eager, you can check manually if your update has arrived by going to Settings>Software update>Download updates manually. If a system update is available, you should be able to download and install it by following the on-screen prompts.

As for the Galaxy J4, the phone was launched not so long ago and comes with Android 8.0 Oreo by default. Which is why it’s probably eligible to get the Android 9.0 Pie update. Last but not least, the Galaxy J2 Core comes with Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) pre-installed and will probably get the bump up to Android 9 Pie (Go edition) at some point.
