Galaxy A7 2017 and A3 2016 get an update with October security patch

Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 update

Samsung is rolling out new software updates for the Galaxy A7 2017 and the Galaxy A3 2016 devices. The updates will be delivered over the air to users, and could take anywhere from a day to a week. We don’t really know all the details about the update, but it installs the October Android security patch.

This is an important security update, as it should probably fix the Blueborne exploit and address other vulnerabilities in Android. Apart from that, the update should also include general bug fixes and system improvements.

The build number for the Galaxy A7 2017 is A720FXXU2BQJ1 and A310FXXU3CQI9 for the Galaxy A3 2016. If you’ve received the update, then we recommend you install it right away. Make sure your device is connected to a stable WiFi network and has more than 50 percent charge.

Last week, Samsung pushed a similar security update with the October security patch for the Galaxy A7 2016 variant. We’re not sure if the A7 2017 will be getting an Oreo update, but Samsung has started the rollout of the Oreo beta software for the Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus.
