Galaxy A5 2017 Canada release is close, device clears FCC

Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 is ready to make a landing on Canadian soil soon, as we have just spotted a Samsung handset with model number SM-A520W on certification site FCC. As you see, W (often W8) denotes codename for Canada and A520 being model number for Galaxy A5 2017. The SM-A520W has already cleared its way into WiFi Alliance.

Definitely a notch higher than the original Galaxy A5 (2016), the 2017 variant sports decent hardware. It runs on the Exynos 7880 octa-core chipset clocked in at 1.9GHz. The phone sports a 5.2-inch 1080p display. Under the pack, it carries 3GB of RAM paired with 32GB of internal storage.

The Galaxy A5 2017 flaunts a 16MP selfie snapper. To keep the juices flowing, there is a 3000mAh battery on board. Other features include 4G connectivity and IP68 dust and water proofing.

It is shipped with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. But we do expect Samsung to bump up the device to Nougat in the coming few months.

The A5 2017 has been launched in UK, Portugal and several other regions. Just yesterday the Galaxy phone was launched in two new color options in Malaysia — Peach Cloud and Blue Mist.
