Samsung’s foldable smartphone has been in the rumor mill forever. Early last month, the company’s mobile chief DJ Koh said the Korean tech giant finally plans to unveil its first handset with a foldable display by the end of the year.
We were also told Samsung may show off the handset at its annual developer conference, which takes place in November, and even share some details regarding the availability of the device.

Well in the meantime, SamMobile reports it has uncovered some references to the device in the Galaxy S9 Android Pie build which leaked a few weeks ago. This hints the phone is currently in development.
Mentions of foldable phone’s codename “Winner” have been discovered during a decompilation of the framework-res file of this leaked build. Since configuration files for this device have been unearthed in the leaked Android Pie build, we can conclude the phone will launch with Android 9 out of the box. Which is obviously, what everyone expects.
The publication also uncovered a policy file for a yet-to-be-released Qualcomm chipset that is referred to as Snapdragon 8150. This will apparently be the marketing name for the successor of the Snapdragon 845.

Although, according to previous leaks, the SoC might be introduced as the Snapdragon 855. However, it’s possible that Qualcomm is planning a change in nomenclature.
The Snapdragon 855 is expected to power’s 2019’s flagships, so does that mean Samsung’s foldable smartphone will arrive next year? It’s indeed possible.
