Enable Fingerprint unlock on Boot with “Fingerprint Enabler” Xposed Module

With Android 6.0 Marshmallow Google introduced an extra security layer for fingerprint locked devices which required a user to use pattern or pin to unlock device from a reboot, disabling fingerprint unlock on boot.

However, we found ourselves less educated to make sense of the new security layer, and we now know we weren’t alone. User 7OH over at xda has released an Xposed module that exactly fixes the restriction and enables Fingerprint scanner on boot and for other lockscreen apps.

To have this set up on your Android device with a fingerprint scanner, you need root access and Xposed framework installed on the device. The module has successfully on the following devices:

  • Lenovo Vibe P1
  • Nexus 6P
  • Nexus 5X
  • Samsung Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge
  • Samsung S6 / S6 Edge
  • Samsung S5

Once you’ve Xposed framework installed on your device, go ahead and download the Fingerprint Enabler Xposed module from the link below and sideload it to your device:

If you find the module working flawlessly on devices other than the list of working devices above, do let us know in the comments section below OR let the author 7OH know about it.

Happy Androiding!
