Details of Samsung Galaxy 3 are Out. Would compete with HTC Wildfire.

Samsung Galaxy 3 - I5800

Only moments ago, we discussed about the army of phones coming this July, all oiled with Google’s mobile OS, Android version 2.1. That also included Galaxy 3 from Samsung, for which no details as to software/hardware was available. That’s not a case any more, since we got our hands on some juicy details, ready to be discussed with you.

Codenamed Samsung I5800, Oh! I can’t figure out what joy Samsung gets in naming each device like this. Maybe for internal reporting convenience, but why in public? Didn’t galaxy 3 from start would have sufficed? Whatever.

Anyways, lets put the details in the listed form for convenience:

  • Android 2.1 (quite obvious, these days)
  • 3.2 inch touch screen
  • 240 x 400 VGA display
  • 3 megapixel camera with autofocus (No flash, huh…!)
  • Bluetooth 3.0
  • Wi-Fi (b/g/n)
  • 3G
  • GPS (No A-GPS, again)

The handset looks set to reach the European and Asian markets next month in July. Around same time, when DroidX will be rolled out by Verizon, Samsung Galaxy S by T-Mobile and maybe Galaxy S Pro by Sprint, as its second 4G device after tasting huge success with HTC EVO.

By now, you know it’s a medium segment smart phone apparently targeted towards HTC Wildfire which was in turn targeting Samsung’s Galaxy Spica who in turn aimed at HTC Tattoo who in turn …. okay hell with this. Right, that’s cat and mouse game between medium segment phones, it’s always like this, No?

What’s your take on the device… are you in? Or are you bored of all these so-called galaxy devices that look all the same, not even like kins but like twins. Is innovation in handset design dead at Samsung? What’s the bet, anyway. Oh! It’s world cup phobia, you know.
