[Deal] Meizu M5 Price cut by INR 1000 off within 1 day of launch in India

Even as competition amongst the smartphone manufacturers is getting intensified, the users emerge as the winner in their battle. One of the most used tool by smartphone companies to slide past the sale of another is reducing the cost of their devices and giving discounts and offers. But seems the contest has become so heated up that the OEMs are even offering discounts on newly launched smartphones. One such example is that of Meizu which is giving a Rs 1000 discount on M5, a phone it launched just yesterday in India via TataCLiQ.

Meizu M5 was launched at a price of Rs 10,499 which was already Rs 1500 less than the regular price of Rs 11,999. And this has been further reduced to Rs 9499. Now the total discount comes up to Rs 2500. The 3GB Meizu M5 with 32GB storage is being sold in India, although it comes in another 2GB variant as well.

The Meizu M5 is available in Blue and Champagne Gold colors. Other features include a 5.2-inch HD display, 1.5GHz Mediatek MT6750 octa-core processor, Android Marshmallow 6.0 and 3070mAH battery. We also find a 13MP rear camera with auto-focus, dual flash and a 5MP selfie shooter on board the phone which also has a front fingerprint scanner.

At this price, the Meizu M5 comes in direct competition against the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 as well as Redmi 4. The latter has been launched today in India which honestly offers much better specs compared to Meizu.

But will only price cut help Meizu scale over its competitors? We think not. At the below Rs 10,000 price, there are a number of other better devices available. So, we believe only price cut cannot be the answer to boost sales, rather a holistic approach is required which should include matching up its devices with better specsheet.
