Call of Duty Mobile to compete with PUBG and Fortnite

Recently, India has seen its youth getting hooked-up in the addictive world of free-to-play FPS gaming. PUBG has become a household name and the frontier of this particular category of games. Fortnite is another massive competitor with over 15 million players worldwide. I think it’s enough to show that the popularity of free-to-play FPS games is huge, and global. Enters Activision!

Activision, arguably the biggest franchise in the gaming industry, has now decided to enter this increasingly profitable market. It has teamed up with Tencent Games, a Chinese company which was behind the Call of Duty: Legends of War (China-only) last year. The duo has announced the release of its latest endeavor together, Call of Duty Mobile, which will follow the free-to-play model.

The game will undoubtedly include different game modes like Team Deathmatch, Free-for-all, and Search & Destroy. The official website also boasts of indulging its users in fan-favorite maps like Nuketown and Crash, all optimized for mobile. The website also says that it is free to play with free updates, but we’re not sure if there will be in-app purchases to support their ongoing development.

To further intice longterm fans of Call of Duty, they have added iconic characters like Captain Price and Ghost from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Also tipping the hat further to its desktop variant, they have also included classic maps and weapons.

What we have to see is if this latest competition will hold stronger than PUBG and Fortnite which are already fan favorites! Call of Duty has been a big name in the desktop gaming titles and Activision will benefit from the already established fan base. Some are skeptical of its success, calling that it may already be too late for this market, but being on Google Play Store charts will definitely help the company. If you’re one of the fans of Call of Duty series, you can pre-register for the game on the Play Store right now!
