AT&T rolling out Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and S8+

Galaxy S8 Oreo AT&T

Shortly after other three major carriers in the US released Android 8.0 Oreo update, now AT&T too has chimed in. Given the delay by Samsung with the launch of first Oreo OTA, it’s good to see carriers getting up to speed.

The Oreo build for AT&T Galaxy S8 is G950USQS2CRB9 (for the S8+, it’s G955USQS2CRB9), which is the same software version we saw on the T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon variants of the devices. This nearly completes the Oreo rollout for the Galaxy S8 handsets in the US, as now only the unlocked sets, and those at US Cellular remain on Nougat. The carriers in Canada had rolled out Oreo yesterday, but let’s hope that the S8 Oreo doesn’t run into any major issues now.

Samsung is already pretty late to the Oreo rollout, as several Android devices are now picking up Android 8.1 update. Besides the Google’s own Pixel mobiles, the Essential phone and Nokia 8 are running Android 8.1 update, while a beta build is also available for the OnePlus 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro.

AT&T is yet to make the Galaxy S8 Oreo rollout official, btw. The Oreo build runs at about 1.5GB, so we would recommend you to use Wi-Fi connection, and have battery charged to more than 50%. Do let us know how the Oreo update treats you, or if you encounter any major issues with the update.

  1. This update totally hosed my wifes s7 active phone. Some communications not getting thru or not being sent. The messages widget is totally gone. I hate to have to get her S9 to solve this. ATT better have a good trade in for the phone Oreo really screwed up.

    1. You are talking about S7 Active but the Oreo update rolled out only for the S8 and S8+. Which update for the S7 Active are you talking about? What’s the software version on her mobile now? Is it G891AUCU2BRB5?

  2. Update bricked my screen. Black screen of death. Replacing oled screen did not work. Sent to Samsung for new phone
