AT&T Optimus G Specs [Official]

The LG Optimus G is now official at AT&T. The carrier just announced the phone via a press release, also touting the Optimus G’s most notable features like Quick Memo, QSlide and Dual Screen Dual Play, apart from the superb hardware it’s housing. And although its specs are no different than the international Optimus G, it’s worth checking out again – such an astonishing spec-sheet the device has got.

But before that, let us tell you that AT&T has remained silent on the pricing and release date of the Optimus G, so it’s still anyone’s guess, but we expect an official word on this pretty soon. And it’s good to see a US carrier do not change the international device’s name – in this sense, Optimus G is a follower to Samsung Galaxy S3, the latter being the first device ever to hold on to its name successfully while crossing North Atlantic Ocean.

AT&T Optimus G Specs

Let’s discuss out the specs of LG Optimus G for AT&T.

  • 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor from Qualcomm
Even the dual-core S4 chip was mind-boggling, blowing even the like of quad-core Exynos chip of Galaxy S3 in some benchmark tests, so the S4 Pro quad-core processor in LG Optimus G should only take the dual-core S4’s performance to next level, while also being very battery friendly. The Optimus G scores the maximum here.
  • 4.7 inch True HD IPS display
LG has never felt shy of accusing Samsung’s Super AMOLED displays for ruining the natural factor from the images and videos by oversaturating everything (although many people just love that, including me), but it has also never been short of patting itself on back for its IPS display, which remain true to colors, do not over saturate, present things as it is, and are crisp and clear. Further, this time around, LG has implemented the in-cell display tech, something it gave to iPhone 5 too. In-cell tech removes the extra glass so that touch feels more connected, and colors pop-up up extremely well too. Full points on display too.
  • 2 GB RAM
Only other phone currently on market with massive 2 GB RAM along with the quad-core processor is Galaxy Note 2, and if talk tablets too, the Galaxy Note 10.1 also have them both. 2 GB RAM should be provide tons of firepower to keep multitasking easy and busy, an always happening and lively function, as it should be. All US variants of Galaxy S3 have 2 GB RAM with dual-core S4 processor.
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
Disappointment over lack of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean – which has been out for 3 months now – here is obvious. One can expect LG to upgrade the Optimus G to Android 4.1 soon enough, but that’s not cool for a device that solid otherwise hardware-wise. Though, LG custom skin over the Android 4.0, has some of the coolest features you would find:
Quick Memo: lets you capture any screen into an image, save/share it after editing it on the fly
QSlide: lets you watch videos in a separate resizable pop-up window while doing any other task on Optimus G
Dual Screen Dual Play: lets you connect to TV and other devices to use the phone with dual display, allowing you to use TV for one purpose (playing a movie) and phone’s display for other (surfing the web).
  • 8 MP rear camera with advanced and exclusive feature, Time Catch shot, and others modern features like Zero Shutter lag and Live Shot (can take pics wile shooting video). Also sports a front facing camera for video chat and stuff.
LG has already showed off the camera capabilities of it, so one can be rightly hopeful of Optimus G’s camera performance
  • 32 GB Internal storage
  • MicroSD card supported up to 48 GB, up to 80 GB total storage possible
  • 2100 mAh battery
Should survive whole day easily on single charge for moderate users, but more can be told only when it’s out
  • Only 8.45 mm thick!

Btw, for those interested, LG has just announced the Sprint Optimus G, too.
