Last month AT&T updated the LG V35 ThinQ with software that added Advanced Messaging support to the handset alongside December 2018 security patches.
Apparently, the new feature has been experiencing issues on the device since then and in the latest update, the carrier is looking to fix them. The rollout started a few days ago and is arriving as software version V350AWM12e and weighs in at 335MB.
In addition to fixing FirstNet Advanced Messaging issues, the update also installs a new Android security patch for the month of February 2019. It’s not the latest version in town, which is not okay for a device that costs upwards of $800 and is barely a year old. But then again, it’s a carrier variant.
It gets even worse knowing that this LG V35 update is still based on Android Oreo, yet it’s probably only a matter of days before the first Android Q developer preview arrives, the successor to the OS that has yet to roll out to the device, Android 9 Pie.
LG did mention that the wait shouldn’t go past Q1 2019, but this is only true for the Korean market. Granted, we should see Pie arriving in the U.S. and other markets in Q2 2019.
