AT&T Galaxy S7 Active gets the Android 8.0 Oreo OTA rolling out

When Samsung Galaxy S7 Active appeared on the Wi-Fi Alliance a week ago running Android 8.0 Oreo, it was never in doubt that the official rollout would begin soon. This listing came after AT&T had begun rolling out the OS to the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, but it’s now the turn of the Active version to jump on board.

As of this writing, the Galaxy S7 Active is getting an update that installs Android 8.0 Oreo. AT&T says the update started rolling out on June 19 and it carries software version G891AUCU3CRE7 alongside the April 2018 security patch.

It’s strange that AT&T is shipping the new OS with quite old security patches, but hopefully, this will be updated soon, too. The carrier also notes that you need to have already installed either of software versions G891AUCS2BRC1 or G891AUCS3BRD1 in order to be eligible to download the latest Oreo update.

Given it has a full OS on board, the update weighs 1.5GB, so make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection before attempting to download it.

Not so long ago, Sprint also started rolling out the Oreo update to the S7 and S7 Edge, which means it’s only T-Mobile that hasn’t updated the pair to the new OS among the big four carriers in the U.S.
