We’ve just got wind of the 2017 variant of the AT&T Galaxy J7. The smartphone was spotted over at FCC certification with model numbers SM-J727A and SM-J727AZ.Â
Last year’s variant ran on the Snapdragon 617 processor with 2GB of RAM and a 5.5-inch 720p display. As for the specifications of its successor, it’s too soon to tell, but it wouldn’t hurt to get a sharper 1080p display for a change, like the Asia and China variants do.
It would also be nice to see a more complete array of on-board sensors. Considering that certain Chinese OEMs are selling their smartphones with a better deal than the J7, we don’t see why Samsung should try to continue to cut corners.

But more importantly, what we want from Samsung the most is to ship their upcoming smartphones with Nougat and not Marshmallow. The Galaxy J5 Prime 2017/On5 2017 ships with Marshmallow on board, much to our frustration. It’s high time for Samsung to start prioritizing their budget markets too.
