Asus ZenFone AR Tango phone with 8GB RAM to arrive in summer in US

Asus ZenFone AR Tango smartphone has many firsts to its credit. It is the first phone to come out with support for both Tango and Daydream which are Google’s AR and VR platforms, respectively. It is the first phone to rock massive 8GB of RAM. This incredible phone surfaced on the horizon when it was showcased at the CES event in January. Post that, it seems to have gone into some kind of hibernation making us wonder about its whereabouts. Google has come up with the answer during I/O 2017.

So, the Asus phone is not only alive but also getting ready to enter the US market this summer. Google, however, did not specify the exact release time-frame. Nevertheless, at least it’s a welcome sign that the US consumers will be able to set their eyes as well as hands on a ZenFone AR Tango phone.

Now, what else does Asus bring to the table with this phone, let’s see. Well, we get a 5.7-inch Quad HD display powered by quad-core 2.35Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor paired with Adreno 530 GPU. On the imaging front we have an impressive 23MP primary camera using Sony’s IMX318 sensor with dual-LED flash, 4K video recording and much more. There’s also an 8MP selfie snapper.

Not to forget the 8GB RAM and Tango and Daydream support. The phone also comes in 6GB RAM, but who needs that when 8GB is in sight. The lights are kept on by a 3300mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.

Just to mention that although this is the first phone to carry both Google AR and VR support, but this isn’t the first device to rock Google’s augmented reality (AR) system. The credit for this goes to Lenovo Phab2 Pro. The phone is also endowed with a vapor cooling system to prevent the phone from overheating when using Tango and Daydream.
