Asus ZenFone 6 (6Z) gets new update with camera and video call improvements

Asus ZenFone 6 is sold in India as Asus 6Z, and it is this unit that is getting a new software update today that brings the June security patch as well as improvements to the photo and video quality of the camera, video call, screenshot function, and more.

The update also enables support for ARCore. But it’s in the camera that benefits the most from the update, as you now get 8X zoom in the Photo mode, better stability in the camera’s flip operation, and better noise reduction in the photo image quality. You will be able to use volume keys to start/stop video recording, which in itself is also receiving minor improvements.

The software version of the update is 16.1210.1906.156 and here’s its full changelog:

  • Enabled ARCore
  • Improved Video Call Experience
  • Camera:
    • Enabled 8X zoom in Photo mode
    • Improved FHD video recording
    • Volume Key optimised to start/stop video recording
    • Improved Photo Image Quality on Noise Reduction
    • Improved Camera Flipping Stability
  • Optimized Screenshot Stability
  • Updated Security Patch to June, 2019

If you rock an Asus 6Z, now is the time to check for an update under Settings > Software update.
