Asus PadFone 2 Jelly Bean Update confirmed to release in November

The phone-cum-tablet, the ASUS PadFone 2, might have some beastly hardware ticking away inside, but on the software side, the PadFone 2 unfortunately comes with the year old Android 4.0. However, ASUS is known to fast updates to their devices, and has announced that the PadFone 2 will be receiving an update to Jelly Bean in November, less than a month after it releases in Taiwan, which makes it probable that the device might come with Android 4.1 out of the box when it launches in other other countries before the end of the year.

Here is a reminder of the PadFone 2’s specs:

  • Quad core 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 Pro Krait processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 4.7 inch Super IPS+ display (1280 x 720 pixels)
  • 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 display on PadFone Station
  • 13 megapixel camera with an f/2.4 BSI sensor
  • 1.2 megapixel front camera
  • 32GB/64GB storage
  • 2,140 mAh battery (5000 mAh on tablet)
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

ASUS is also reportedly on making the “best keyboard dock”, something which the PadFone 2 currently doesn’t include, though it’s also possible that the keyboard dock may get cancelled. But even without the keyboard dock or Android 4.1 out of the box, I’m pretty sure people are gonna be eager to get their hands on the PadFone 2, and I’m sure you’ll agree.
