[Update: Night mode here already] April patch for Galaxy S10 units arrives, but a major update is coming later this month with a new night mode, improved HDR, and more

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus April 2019 security patch

Update [April 19, 2019]: Apparently, this very update is the one that actually brings a dedicated Night mode to the camera of the S10, S10e and S10+ handsets. Whether this means that all the other features initially expected to arrive later this month are part of this update is unknown, but it’s likely to be the case unless Samsung has other ideas.

It’s strange that the Galaxy S10 series lacked this feature right from the onset, but it’s great to see Samsung making amends not long after releasing the phone. Just so you know, it seems this new Night mode is the old Bright Night that was part of the Scene Optimizer feature in the camera app.

Samsung is said to be lining up a major software update for the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10+ with an end of April release date.

The Galaxy S10 trio has already received about three updates since its launch, all of which have been improving existing features while others introducing other new features. These updates have also done a great deal of fixing bugs here and there, making what are already incredible devices even more appealing.

Now, according to Chinese tipster Ice Universe, the Galaxy S10 devices are set to receive a major update at the end of this month and among the changes being lined up are a new night mode, improvements to HDR and photo resolution, optimizations to pocket mode, minimize noise during music playback, improvements to digital wellbeing, Samsung Pay, Notebook app, image sharing function, and so on.

Upcoming Galaxy S10 update end of April 2019

As you wait for the above update, Samsung wants you to have the latest April 2019 security patch for your S10e, S10 or S10+, at least if you are in Europe. The update is arriving as version G970FXXU1ASD5, G973FXXU1ASD5, and G975FXXU1ASD5, respectively.

This brings Samsung’s flagships at par with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+ Note 9, and Note 8, the latter having got the nod nearly two weeks ago.

The ASD5 update is airborne and having just arrived in Switzerland, it may take some time before other regions not just in Europe, but also in other parts of the world start receiving a similar update.

It’s worth noting that Sprint already rolled out this same update to the Galaxy S10 trio a couple of days ago, surprisingly beating the global variant to the update.
