Last year, the public beta program of Android Pie included non-Google devices for the first time and apparently, the list of participating OEMs and devices is set to grow bigger with the upcoming Android Q public beta program.
Google is expected to release the first developer preview of Android Q in the coming weeks, if not days, and follow it up with a public beta program in May during the Google I/O 2019. According to Android Developer Mr. Illiyan Malchev, (via XDA Developers), the number of participants in this year’s Android Q beta program will be bigger.
Unfortunately, Mr. Malchev doesn’t mention anything about the names of new OEMs that will be included as well as the possible number of devices. Last year, the program had seven non-Google phones, namely Essential Phone, OnePlus 6, Nokia 7 Plus, Sony Xperia XZ2, Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, Oppo R15 Pro, and Vivo X21.
As noted earlier, Google is expected to release the first developer preview this March, at least based on what happened with the first Android P developer preview.
