Android Oreo rolling out for Huawei P10 Plus now [Update: P10 Oreo is live too]

Update [December 08, 2017]: Huawei is rolling out Oreo for its P10 handsets too, as expected. This is a stable version of Android 8.0 update, BTW, and it’s coming in as version B310 for Huawei P10 users too, which is same build as that for P10 Plus users.

The update rollout timing is differed by about 8 hours between P10 and P10 Plus, but it doesn’t matter really as long as it’s out on the same day. The Android 8.0 changelog remains same, BTW, so just check out the article below, written originally for P10 Plus, as it fully applies to the P10 too.


Huawei is currently rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the P10 Plus. That brings the number of Huawei devices that were updated to Oreo recently, to 4.

Apart from the Huawei P10 Plus, the update is also available for the Honor 9, Honor V9, and the Mate 9 series. If you own the Huawei P10 Plus, then you should be now getting the new Oreo update as software version B310. The update is available as OTA, and is for the Chinese variant of the smartphone.

You will get EMUI 8.0 on top of Android 8.0 Oreo, bringing several new features, UI changes, performance improvements, and security enhancements. We have included the complete changelog at the end of the post.

In short, the new EMUI 8.0 software includes features such as smart recommendations for services that uses AI. Improvements to HiVoice, HiBoard, TrustSpace, PrivateSpace, and overall security.   • HiBoard (accessed by swiping right on the home screen) now features a Save for later feature that lets you save social media posts and news articles as cards for later reading.
  • HiBoard now features an Instant access feature that lets you access frequently used services in a single step. Make QR code payments, hail a taxi, or make a restaurant reservation with ease.
  • HiBoard now features delivery cards that you can use to keep track of your packages. Get onscreen collection prompts when you approach parcel lockers.
  • HiBoard now features SkyTone cards which you can use to quickly activate SkyTone and purchase data packages.

Enhanced security

  • The PrivateSpace menu has been optimized, making it easier to create a PrivateSpace on your device. Files can now be moved between the MainSpace and PrivateSpace with ease.
  • TrustSpace now provides protection for more than 500 apps.
  • Find my phone now lets you track your phone’s movements and extend its battery life to increase your chances of retrieving it.

Higher efficiency

  • Contacts and Email now let you sync the career details of your LinkedIn contacts.
  • Settings has been redesigned for clearer and more intuitive organization.
  • Voice commands can now be used to search for and change settings.
  • Gallery now features a recycle bin that retains deleted photos for up to 30 days. Accidentally deleted photos can be restored with a single touch.
  • Phone Manager has been simplified to make managing your device easier. Standard cleanups are faster and deep cleanups more thorough.
  • Recorder now features speech-to-text conversion.
  • Your device can now connect to two different Bluetooth devices simultaneously, such as a band and a car.
