The Nokia 3, which was announced in February earlier this year, will not get an update to Android 7.1.2 Nougat. Yes, that’s sad, but don’t worry, because the phone will get the Android Oreo update.
It has been confirmed, by the Chief Product Officer of HMD Global, that the Nokia 3 will skip Nougat and will directly jump on board the Oreo train. An exact release date wasn’t provided, but we can expect it to arrive sometime next year, probably in the first quarter.
Nokia 3 originally came with Android 7.0 Nougat, so users aren’t really missing that much. The Oreo update will bring several new features to the device, including a Picture-in-Picture mode, Notification dots, smart text selection, and more.

HMD Global has already released the Oreo update for the Nokia 8. The company has also promised that the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 would also be arriving very soon.
