Android Nougat release date for Xiaomi Redmi 3, 3S, 3S Prime, 3 Pro and 3X

Are you hoping for the Android 7.0 Nougat update for your Redmi 3? Well, you got some daring, we gotta say! Because, your deary is still running on Lollipop (5.1), so dreaming about Nougat is gutsy! There is whole of Marshmallow update in between. Anyway, we will talk about the possible Nougat update release and release date for Redmi 3 devices here, and we are gonna cover the these: Redmi 3, Redmi 3S, Redmi 3S Prime, Redmi 3 Pro and Redmi 3X.

Yes, that’s a lot of Redmi 3 sets, but we really couldn’t help but feel gutted too! Man, for each small upgrade (2GB to 3GB RAM), or software update itself, Xiaomi likes to release a new device altogether with different moniker, but not just bring a variant of the original one with more RAM. Gah!

Redmi 3 Nougat update

Still on Android 5.1 Lollipop officially under both beta and stable release, there is absolutely no chance of Redmi 3 getting a taste of Nougat — as far as official lines are concerned.

Though, with CM14, Redmi 3 stands a good chance, and it will — we think — be surely running CyanogenMod 14 and Android Nougat by the end of this year, or January 2017.

In fact, both the AOSP and CM14 ROM are already available for the Redmi 3, and should work on other variants too, and even the Mi4i. The codename of your device should be cancro. Find the download link at the page linked in download section below.

Redmi 3 Prime (Pro) Nougat update

Packing one extra gig of RAM compared to its original one in Redmi 3, and no other difference, the Redmi 3 Pro too still runs on Lollipop, so the Nougat deal looks already rotten.

Once again, custom ROMs like CM14 and Resurrection Remix will come to rescue. Should get the Nougat update unofficially by January 2014. The update file will be same for Redmi 3 and Redmi 3 Pro.

Redmi 3S Nougat update

Okay, the Redmi 3S runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. So, brightest chances of Android 7.0 Nougat, right? Well, here’s a sucker punch from Xiaomi. It loves to bring new devices to table with an update, rather upgrade old ones to newest update.

So, expect the Redmi 4 to come with Android 7.0 Nougat. And don’t expect the Nougat update for Redmi 3S, at all.

Don’t worry though, unless you can’t live without Xiaomi’s MIUI (which is good UI, BTW), there will be CM14 and alike ROMs to get you first taste of Android 7.0. They won’t be colored with MIUI, and that’s great too. Because stock UI is a winner.

Redmi 3X Prime Nougat update

Redmi 3X is your Redmi 3S, but with 32GB of internal storage. So, everything as regards Nougat for Redmi 3S applies to Redmi 3X too. Look for Nougat via unofficial channels like CM14 ROM.

Redmi 3S Prime Nougat update

Thankfully, the last variant of Redmi 3 series, the 3S Prime is fully capable of running and twisting Android 7.0 Nougat as er its wishes — the other variants above too are capable, BTW! — but because it’s Xiaomi, the company will rather release MIUI9 and MIUI10, but not bring anything above Android 6.0.1 to the device.

So, the Android 7.0 update for Redmi 3S Prime, too, can come only via custom ROMs like CyanogenMod 14.
