Android 9 Pie beta testing for Huawei P20, Mate 10, Honor 10, V10 and Honor Play has begun

The IFA 2018 is here and as we’ve come to expect, lots of firsts are going to show up at the Berlin-held annual tech show. Perhaps one of the most awaited announcements is Huawei Android 9 Pie update, and indeed, the company is already on the roll with the first beta for several devices, including some from Honor.

While some earlier reports had pointed out that Huawei commenced beta testing Android Pie in China on four devices several weeks ago, it’s only now that these details appear to be official. Apparently, the company says the EMUI 9.0 update will begin rolling out later this week at the IFA event.

As for the devices that will receive the Pie beta update, you should own any of the Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, Mate 10 Porsche Design, Mate RS Porsche Design, P20, P20 Pro, Honor 10, Honor V10, or Honor Play to merit. The recently launched Huawei Mate 20 Lite is nowhere on the list, but of course, it will be upgraded to the stable version probably before the end of the year or in early 2019.

Each device has 1500 slots and the first beta program will be targeting the Chinese market. This is probably the first phase and other Huawei and Honor phones should join in sooner or later, including those in markets outside China.
