Android 8.0 Oreo for Samsung Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ is now available

The release of Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus along with the Galaxy A8 was an iconic device not only because it was a step in the new direction for the A-series devices, but because it was the first time we got to saw a Galaxy device with a dual front-facing camera setup.

Apart from the fact that the new position of the fingerprint scanner helped us understand what to expect from the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, unlike the current flagships, the Galaxy A8 Plus (our review) was not released with Android 8.0 Oreo, but Android 7.1.1 Nougat instead.

We were informed back in March that it would take some time later in 2018 for the Android Oreo update for the Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8 Plus to arrive, and the time is finally here.

Carrying the software version A730FXXU2BRG1 for the A8+ and A530FXXU2BRG1 for the A8, the Oreo software update has begun rolling out to devices already. It is expected to be a staged update, so it may take days or weeks to reach unlocked Galaxy A8 Plus devices across the globe, and even longer for carrier locked devices.

The update has been spotted in Uzbekistan, but we are sure more regions across Asia, and even Europe, can be expected to be given a treat to Oreo today or within a few days.

If you own a Galaxy A8+ and receive a notification for Oreo update, please be sure to give us a nice heads up with screenshots in the comments section below.
