AmazonTube might be Amazon’s answer to Google’s YouTube

amazontube

According to new findings, Amazon may be planning on starting its own YouTube-like video sharing service called AmazonTube.

Amazon has filed new trademark requests with USPTO, the US Patent and Trademark Office, for the so-called AmazonTube service. Along with that, the company also filed another trademark for Opentube. The filings were discovered by TV Answer Man, and these come right after Google’s announcement that it will be removing its app from Amazon Echo and Fire TV.

The description of both the services is very similar to that of YouTube. In the filing, Amazon describes it as a software or mobile app that can be used to transmit, receive, upload, download, encode, decode, stream, share, and broadcast content, images, videos, and more. It also states that the service would provide ‘non-downloadable pre-recorded audio, visual and audiovisual works via wireless networks.’

Samsung and Amazon tie-up to provide HDR10 content

Sounds familiar? The full description which, goes into much more detail about the service and what it will provide, can be found here. However, these are just filings and is no confirmation that Amazon would release such as service. That would probably land them in more trouble with Google. Besides, they already have Amazon Prime Video.

What do you think of this? Would you like another service such as YouTube that’s from Amazon?
